THE SUCCESS OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN BORKI WIELKIE IN THE IX SCHOOL TOURIST FAIR "ADVENTURE" FINAL
On 2nd June 2008 the students of the primary school in Borki Wielkie represented the Opole province in the IX School Tourist Fair "Adventure" Final. In the "Culture upheavals" contest they presented a programme called: "Burkina Faso - the country of righteous people", directed by Mrs Anna Meryk. In the 10-minute-long programme the students showed the lives, daily duties, food and traditional dances of inhabitants of one of the poorest countries in the world. The following students took part in the programme:
the missionary - Dariusz Matusek
girls - Elizabeth Boboń and Dominika Bensz
Griot - Adrian Ledwig
Black children - Weronika Jendrszczok, Kamila Ginter, Anna Nowak, Wiktoria Dębska
the Black man - Damian Jendrszczok
the small Black child - Stasiu Dębski
They defeated 12 provinces with their songs and dances and won the first prize. All of them were very happy with their success.
Burkina Faso was also presented in the "World in senses" contest. Black people received their guests in a beautiful house made of brick-red clay and covered with straw thatched roof. They were passing calbas with drinking water. Then the guests were offered rice with a spicy sauce and chicken and fruits for dessert: bananas, avocado, and pineapple. In the "Black Village" there were beautiful palm trees and thorny bushes. The stage scenery made both the contests more interesting.
Thanks to kindliness of Fr Krystian Pieczka from the Missionary Department in Gora sw. Anny and the clerical students from the Seminary in Wroclaw, real Burkina Faso exhibit items could be presented.
Fr Mieczysław Lenard, Mrs Kornelia Hęcińska, Mrs Barbara Włodarska and Mrs Ewa Dziembek worked at the "Black Village". The headmistress of the school, Mrs Anna Meryk supervised the whole work.
The "Black Village" delighted the Jury and the team was given a distinction.
