Will you come tomorrow?
Children of special care (of different degrees of disability) have found their shelter at the 6th floor of the Public Hospital in Meknes. They are a little bit hidden from people's eyes. I cooperated with the Muslim hospital staff to support their work for more than a year.
The beginnings were very difficult. Disabled people are not officially recognized by Moroccan law. 22 children suffering from cerebral, movement and speech palsy desire to live. They yearn for love and family warmth. They need specialist care and they wait for SOMEBODY who would love them.
When I was coming to the hospital on Tuesday mornings, I always saw in their eyes and heard in few Arabic words the following question: "Wasz cymszi rdda?" (Will you come tomorrow?).
It was hard for me and I could not look at the children's eyes to tell them the truth. It was my last week with them. I got transferred to a new diocese in Tangier, to the North of Larache. After 6 years of really great collaboration with Muslims in Meknes and building the Kingdom of God together, I will be looking for Lord's paths in the Inter-religious Dialogue Centre in Larache.
I will tell you about the new challenges after holidays.
Please, pray for me so that I will be able to persevere in love for the people I meet at my new mission. Please, pray for the Children of Special Care from Meknes so that they experience love every day. Please, pray for people who will always be ready for selfless service.
With love - Simeon
For the summer heat waves I wish you a little bit of refreshment and rest...
